DOI Supports Western Water Reclamation with Additional Investment

Funding will expand water recycling and reclamation facilities.

The Department of the Interior announced that $142 million will be distributed to water recycling and reclamation facilities throughout the western United States. This investment is estimated to provide an additional 40,000 acre-feet of usable water annually to communities in the West, enough to support 160,000 people every year.

Acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis made the announcement after a tour of the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, which will receive $30 million from this round of funding.

“Access to clean and reliable water is essential for feeding families, growing crops, sustaining wildlife and the environment, and powering agricultural businesses,” said Acting Deputy Secretary Daniel-Davis. “We also recognize the incredible potential for economic opportunity and job creation, as we work together to address the intensifying effects of climate change.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Deputy Secretary Daniel-Davis as she coordinates support for water conservation projects.
  • For U.S. interior officials as they seek to ensure water availability and facilitate reclamation for Western states.
